What does Jesus see when he looks at a church? We have our own opinions about the music, the preaching, and whether we feel at home. In Revelation, Jesus speaks to seven real congregations about things they sometimes struggle to see in themselves. His words still have a way of finding us.
Church Reviews is a nine-week sermon series at Boynton Beach Community Church exploring the seven churches of Revelation. We begin with John’s vision of the risen Jesus in Revelation 1, then listen to each of the letters in chapters 2 and 3. Along the way, we meet a hardworking church whose love has grown cold, believers facing suffering, and congregations tempted to compromise their faith to keep life comfortable. Some look stronger than they are. Others have little strength and are deeply precious to Jesus.
These letters give us room to ask honest questions about our own life together. Have we become busy with church and distant from Christ? What does faithfulness cost us? Where do we need to repent, and where do we need the courage to keep going? Jesus knows the people he addresses. The One who died and rose again calls his churches back to himself and gives them promises worth holding on to.
The series closes with the new creation in Revelation 21–22, where those promises lead: God dwelling with his people, death defeated, and life with Christ. That hope shapes how we worship and care for one another now.
